Tax Increment Re-investment Zone (TIRZ) #1

In
the early 1990's, St. George Place was formed in the subdivision previously known as Lamar Terrace.   St. George Place is Texas' first Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone (TIRZ), and the first zoned area in all of Houston!

Of all the TIRZ's that have followed since in Houston and other Texas cities, St. George Place is often regarded as the most successful.   In the nearly 10 years since St George Place was formed, the neighborhood has been transformed from a once forgotten area of town into a premiere Uptown/Galleria area residential neighborhood full of new home construction, beautiful streets, and a fun and active neighborhood civic association (the SGPCA).
